Mercedes Benz Atego six-wheel dropside truck and tanker drawbar trailer

Grell Werbemittel

1:87 (HO) scale plastic model. Year of issue not known. Depicts an unusual 'mixed' load of crates on the truck and a tanker drawbar trailer.  It is highly unlikely that an actual truck of this layout was used by Newcastle Breweries. On the base of the trailer the manufacturer is listed as Grell Werbemittel (German), on the chassis of the truck the name is High Speed (Chinese).  Acquired for this collection - June 2003.

Code '3' model. Date of manufacture, and by whom, is unknown. Acquired for the web collection - June 2007.

Newton and Ridley is the fictitious brewery which runs the 'Rovers Return' public house in the British television drama series, Coronation Street.  Click here to view the 'fleet' issued by Lledo in 1999.  

Although the brewery is fictitious, on one of my visits to the (then) Bass Brewery Museum (now The National Brewery Centre), Burton-on-Trent, in 1986, I spotted a Volvo F10 artic tractor unit with the Newton and Ridley name on the cab front!  If anyone can supply brewtruck with any details of this vehicle it would be appreciated.

Produced in 1995 as an 'Exclusive Souvenir' for the Coronation Street television series. The model came boxed by Ashbury Confectionery Ltd. and contained a chocolate and toffee assortment (sadly consumed by previous owner). Obtained for this collection - January 2003.

Certificated Limited Edition white metal model (number 97 of 2000 produced). The model was made in Great Britain in 1993 by the Bassett Lowke company, which is now owned by Corgi Toys.  Model acquired for the web collection - December 2009.
