issue not known. Depicts an unusual 'mixed' load of crates on the
truck and a tanker drawbar trailer. It is highly unlikely that an
actual truck of this layout was used by Newcastle Breweries. On
the base of the trailer the manufacturer is listed as Grell
Werbemittel (German), on the chassis of the truck the name is High
Speed (Chinese). Acquired for this collection - June 2003. |

Newton
and Ridley is the fictitious brewery which runs the 'Rovers Return'
public house in the British television drama series, Coronation
Street. Click

Although
the brewery is fictitious, on one of my visits to the (then) Bass
Brewery Museum (now
Coors),
Burton-on-Trent, in 1986, I spotted a Volvo F10 artic tractor
unit with the Newton and Ridley name on the cab front! If
anyone can supply brewtruck with any details of this vehicle it
would be appreciated.
